Inspiring Readers. Building Leaders.
For schools, libraries, bookstores & hospitals

Help children discover a story worth loving. Stories Start Here brings young volunteers and community venues together around reading.

An event built together

Start small. Make it memorable.

A class read-aloud. A library story time. A bookstore gathering. A hospital reading visit planned around the facility’s needs. The venue and local volunteers agree on an age-appropriate format.

Young leaders, adult support

A shared plan.

A Daughter Lead Organizer can help coordinate the event, with a Certified Adult Volunteer serving as the adult liaison. Venue staff help set capacity, registration, and site requirements.

Let’s plan a good beginning.

Talk with a local Bethel.

Ask whether local members can support a Stories Start Here reading event. Aim to start the conversation at least 30 days ahead; participation depends on volunteer availability.

Agree on the details.

Choose the audience, space, book selection, date, and capacity together. The venue manages registration if needed. Discuss any accessibility, infection-control, or facility requirements.

Keep the focus on reading.

Read-alouds and a simple activity can be enough. There is no appearance fee. Confirm supplies and any venue expenses in advance; bookmarks and plush book buddies depend on availability.

Make photographs a deliberate choice.

Public event photographs require verified media releases for every identifiable person in the image, including parent or guardian authorization for minors. Photos are optional; an event can succeed without them.
